Description

Produced at Quinta do Tamariz, in the Vinhos Verdes Demarcated Region (Sub-region of Cávado), Aguardente 40 years is a rare and refined spirit, aged for an average of 40 years in oak barrels. Limited to just 750 bottles, it represents decades of patience, tradition, and craftsmanship.

Since 1951, the Borges Vinagre family has pioneered the production of high-quality wine brandies in the region. This aguardente continues that legacy, distilled using the Charentais method and aged in a granite cellar, initially in new oak and later in seasoned casks, to achieve depth, elegance, and complexity.

Distillation & Ageing

The wines used for distillation are made expressly for this purpose — pure, clean, and without preservatives such as sulfites — ensuring the best foundation for an exceptional brandy. Through careful double distillation in a Charentais alembic, only the bonne chauffe (“heart of the brandy”) is selected, which then ages slowly in oak barrels for decades, evolving into a sophisticated spirit of remarkable character.
