Description
Produced at Quinta do Tamariz, in the Vinhos Verdes Demarcated Region (Sub-region of Cávado), Grande Escolha 2022 is a Reserva-style white wine made from a refined blend of Arinto (70%) and Alvarinho (30%). Limited production of 3,256 bottles.
The 2022 vintage was marked by an early flowering due to elevated spring temperatures, followed by a hot and dry summer with little northern wind, which allowed a full transformation of sugars into alcohol and resulted in expressive, concentrated wines.
Harvesting was done manually into small boxes to avoid crushing, with quick transport to the winery. After 90% destemming, the grapes were gently pressed, and fermentation took place in stainless steel vats at 14–16ºC for 10 days. Each grape variety was vinified separately, and during maturation the wine underwent bâtonnage on fine lees, adding texture and complexity.
