Produced in the Vinhos Verdes Demarcated Region, Quinta do Tamariz Garrafeira 2018 is a highly limited-edition white wine (only 660 bottles), crafted from carefully selected Alvarinho and Arinto grapes. This special cuvée originated from an experimental approach by the winemaking team, aiming to create a wine with greater complexity and exceptional aging potential.

Grapes from Quinta do Tamariz were harvested in small quantities and gently pressed. Each variety fermented separately, followed by six months of fine-lees stirring (bâtonnage) to enhance structure and texture.

The 2018 vintage was marked by very high summer temperatures, causing rapid maturation and high sugar concentration, with many vineyards suffering sunburn due to the intense heat.

From June 2019 to March 2020, the Alvarinho aged in used French oak barrels, while the Arinto remained in stainless steel with extended lees aging. In late March, a 500-liter blend was created, combining oak-aged Alvarinho with unoaked yet long-aged Arinto. Recognizing the exceptional quality, the wine was bottled on June 30, 2020, and later released on November 6, 2021.

Tasting Notes

Visual: Limpid, pale straw color.

Aroma: Very fine and fresh; starts with subtle, restrained fruit and light tropical notes, evolving into ripe stone fruit.

Palate: Excellent body and concentration from the ripeness of the grapes and the bâtonnage process. Elegant and complex, with notes of vanilla, honey, and light spice from the prolonged oak aging. Voluminous, persistent, and creamy, with a long finish and notable gastronomic character.

Style: Refined, structured, and built for longevity, with outstanding aging potential.

Food Pairing

Ideal with rich seafood dishes, baked fish, creamy poultry recipes, and mature cheeses.
