Description

Produced at Quinta do Tamariz in the Vinhos Verdes Demarcated Region (IGP Minho), Vinha do Alto de Cantim 2023 is a limited edition red wine (just 2,018 bottles) made exclusively from Vinhão grapes.

The vineyard sits on the highest parcel of the estate, right beside the manor house, with excellent sun exposure. Only the most perfect and ripe grape clusters were hand-selected during harvest, prioritizing quality over quantity. After gentle vinification with low extraction, the wine was aged for one month in used French oak barrels, resulting in an elegant, well-balanced expression of Vinhão with a unique flavor profile.

The 2023 vintage brought early flowering due to elevated spring temperatures, followed by a hot, dry summer with little northern wind, enabling a complete and harmonious transformation of sugars into alcohol. Bottled in June 2024, this wine embodies both terroir and vintage character.

Tasting Notes

Visual: Open, translucent red color.

Aroma: Fresh red and black fruits, elegant and mineral.

Palate: Dry, with well-integrated acidity, intense aroma, and a flavorful finish. Lightly structured, with low astringency and a balanced profile.

Style: Elegant, youthful, and mineral-driven.

Food Pairing

Pairs beautifully with oven-roasted fish, salmon, grilled red meats, roasted poultry, and traditional Minho dishes such as rojões and lamprey. Excellent for immediate enjoyment but also offers good ageing potential.
